Since taking office in 2022, Cara Schroeder has been a driving force behind Tucker’s progress, leading critical initiatives such as the rezoning of Lawrenceville Highway to attract business investment and create a vibrant economic corridor. As Mayor Pro Tempore and Chair of the Comprehensive Master Plan Update Committee, she continues to champion smart, sustainable development that balances the needs of residents, businesses, and future growth. Cara is committed to revitalizing key areas like the Northlake Mall district while maintaining Tucker’s small-town charm and sense of community.

Cara has worked tirelessly to prioritize public safety and improve infrastructure across Tucker. She helped administer the creation of Tucker’s Public Works Department, ensuring the city has the resources to maintain roads, sidewalks, and essential services. She has also spearheaded traffic-calming measures on Brockett Rd. and Idlewood Rd., filled in key sidewalk gaps, and allocated funding for roundabout improvements at Idlewood and Fellowship Rd. and Idlewood and Sar Pkwy. Looking ahead, Cara is focused on addressing crime, ensuring public spaces are safe, and expanding efforts to improve walkability and road safety across the city.

Cara understands that economic growth must be intentional and community-driven. She played a key role in securing new zoning for four districts along Lawrenceville Highway to foster business development and has worked closely with the Community Improvement District (CID) to enhance the 285/Lawrenceville Hwy entrance with improved landscaping and future welcoming signage. Her next-term goals include redeveloping underutilized areas, bringing new businesses to the Northlake Mall area, and ensuring Tucker remains attractive for entrepreneurs, investors, and families alike.

 Throughout her tenure, Cara has been committed to open, transparent decision-making that puts residents first. She has championed policies that keep the public informed, engaged, and involved in shaping Tucker’s future. Whether through public forums, advisory committees, or direct outreach, Cara believes strong leadership means listening, learning, and leading with integrity. In her final term, she will continue to push for accountability in city governance, ensuring that capital improvement projects are well-managed and that Tucker’s growth is guided by community input and responsible planning.
